What a superb start to fall we have had here on the Outer Banks! We've got beautiful sunny days, great, mild temperatures, smaller crowds and plenty of things to do on any given day. Our guests often enjoy time at the beach, visiting museums, taking in wine tastings, adventure tours, visiting the historic lighthouses, and more. There is usually a great event happening around town as well, and we’ve got a fun one coming up called the Mustang Music Festival!
The Mustang Music Festival will be taking place October 7-8, 2016, at Whalehead in the town of Corolla. This is about an hour from our inn but the drive over is easy and scenic so definitely worth the trip! Whalehead is a grand, historic residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located on 39 acres of stunning sound front property. They host fantastic tours and events all year round. This music festival in particular is a huge family-friendly event so all ages are encouraged to attend—they will have many fun activities going on for kids young and old. The gates open Friday at 3pm and the entertainment will go until 10pm and then Saturday the hours are from 12:15pm – 10pm. Around this time of year the average daily high’s are in the 70’s and the lows around 60 so dress accordingly for the evening weather.
If you happen to be in town October 6th, there is also a kick-off party you can enjoy from 5pm – 10pm outside Cosmos Pizzeria. This year the lineup includes some fantastic artists, which include Yonder Mountain String Band, Mike Dillon Band, Smooth Hound Smith, Empire Strikes Brass, and moe. Ticket prices vary and they are starting to sell out so get yours today if you plan on going This festival benefits both the Mustang Outreach Program in local schools and the Corolla Wild Horse Fund—two worthy causes!
Whether you are coming for a festival such as this or simply a weekend or mid-week getaway, our bed and breakfast is the perfect home away from home. Book online today or contact us for further information.
