Summer on the Water With Kitty Hawk – Outer Banks, NC

At a place like the Outer Banks, the water is the place to be during the summer months. There is an endless amount of fun to be had and Kitty Hawk Kites is an amazing local company that has you covered when it comes to getting you out on the water. Check out just a few of the great services they provide—we suggest staying long enough to try more than one!

Kiteboarding – You can learn the essential basics for this exciting sport and they have great beginner kiteboarding equipment packages. It’s the ultimate way to fly across the water but easy enough for almost anyone to learn—just need a sense of adventure!

Kayaking – Kitty Hawk rents single and tandem kayaks as well as styles suitable for fishing outings. There are 8 rental locations throughout the Outer Banks, including right here near the inn in Manteo. They offer several tours that range from 1.5 to 2.5 hours in length and are perfect for an afternoon out on the water with friends.

Stand Up Paddleboarding – Often called SUP, stand up paddle boarding is a fun and relaxing way to get out on the water. The only equipment is a long board and a paddle and you can head out and glide to your heart’s content. They also offer tours and lessons if you are a bit shaky on giving it a try.
Jetpack & Flyboarding – New in 2015, these activities are for the true thrill seeker who enjoys a fun adrenaline rush! The Jetpack is exactly how it sounds – you have a powerful pack on your back that shoots water allowing you to literally fly around the water. They offer a 15-minute demo lesson to see if it’s an activity you would like to try. Flyboarding is similar but with this you have a special apparatus attached to your feet that shoots water and allows you to basically levitate high above the surface of the water and bodysurf if you will. Both of these new activities require a great deal of physicality and can be quite tiring but worth a try if you are up for a challenge!

Parasailing – Go single, double or triple on a parasailing adventure with Kitty Hawk. Fly up to 1200 feet and get a breathtaking view of the Outer Banks—it is an enjoyable and relaxing activity and one to try if you’ve never gone before.

Surfing – One of the best ways to enjoy the waves is on a surfboard. They offer surf classes and private instruction at four different locations.

Come on friends! The sun is shining, the weather is perfect, and all kinds of adventures are waiting to be had. We would love to host you this summer—whether for a one-night escape or a weeklong vacation, book online today and make this summer one you won’t forget.
