When the hustle and bustle of Christmas comes and goes, do you ever feel the post-holiday blues? The presents have been opened, the food has been eaten, and the extended family leaves for their respective homes. It can leave a person both exhausted and kind of down are we right? One of the best remedies is to find something fun to do and we have two concerts coming up we think you will enjoy. The Outer Banks Performing Arts Concert Series has two special concerts coming up and you’ll find all of the details below.
First up is the Valinor Quartet, happening Saturday, January 23, 2016. This four-piece band made up of talented musicians from Russia, USA, and England brings a very unique performance. They have a repertoire that “incorporates classical, jazz, popular and culturally diverse music including French, Russian, Klezmer, Tango, Gypsy Jazz and Film Soundtracks.” The variety of music that comes from the blend of an accordion, violin, guitar, and bass is extraordinary.
Second, if you are a fan of the famous folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, you will truly enjoy the “Simon and Garfunkel” Tribute coming up Saturday, February 20, 2016. Musical artists A. J. Swearingen and Jayne Kelli truly capture the sounds and memories of the famous duo. Kelli has a beautiful, angelic voice that harmonizes exquisitely with Swearingen’s deep baritone vocals. Throw in some superb guitar playing and you have a performance that brings the perfect tribute the real artists would be proud of.
