The SAGA Triathlon: Swim, Bike, and Run the Outer Banks

It may be the pristine beaches, award-winning restaurants, sailing, sunsets at Jockey Ridge, or the
coastal golf courses that bring visitors to the Outer Banks but this list is just the tip of the iceberg…or sand dune. Guests at our inn come from all over the country and beyond for all sorts of reasons, whether it be to play or relax but we have a lot of athletes that make their way here and one special event coming up is the SAGA Triathlon right here in Manteo, NC.

This triathlon will be taking place September 12-13, 2015 and our beautiful area on the East Coast is going to be buzzing with excitement. Registration is still open so whether you are a seasoned competitor or a novice wanting to spread your wings into the triathlon world, sign up before it is too late. There are three race choices: the Outer Banks Sprint, The Outer Banks Olympic, and the Outer Banks Half. You can also create and sign up a relay team for each of these events as well.

The swim portion will begin at the Old Swimming Hole on Roanoke Island; the bike will be a looped,
flat course outside Manteo and into Mashoes. The scenery on the bike ride alone will make this race memorable! The run is another loop through the airport and around the scenic Manteo area and the north end of Roanoke Island. Are you getting excited? Something else we want to note is that the Saga Triathlon is a nonprofit organization that will be donating 100 % of net proceeds to the Outer Banks Relief Foundation and the Dare Education Foundation. If would like to volunteer for this event you can go on their website or call the office.

We would love to host you at our bed and breakfast whether you are an athlete who needs a place to relax before and after the race or family and fans that require lodging for the race weekend. It is going to be a great weekend on the Banks so book your room soon!
