Remember the Wright Brothers First Flight: Dec 2013

History was made in the Outer Banks on December 17, 1903, and now 110 years later, you can be part of the Annual Celebration at the Wright Brothers National Memorial.  Inventors Orville and Wilbur Wright developed a lightweight engine and succeeded in flying the first powered airplane on a short distance on a North Carolina beach.  The plane flew 20 feet above ground for 12 seconds, and went the distance of 120 feet.  This wonderful invention paved the way for the air travel that many take for granted today.  In fact, you may be traveling to the Outer Banks and The White Doe Inn via plane!

If you are here on December 17, 2013, we know you'll enjoy this celebration.  The Wright Brothers National Memorial can be found at Wright Brothers National Memorial is located at mile post 7.5 on U.S. Highway 158, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.  The celebration will last from 9 am to 5 pm.  Admission is absolutely free, and we know you'll find this anniversary celebration to be memorable!

While visiting the Outer Banks you may want to check out the Wright Brothers National Memorial Visitor Center to learn more about this historic event.
